Stanford Cancer Institute Senior Research Administrator Remote Position The Stanford Cancer Institute (SCI) is one of only 49 National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the country. As a NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center the SCI is a dynamic and stimulating place to work as it maintains the highest level of scientific rigor, institutional support and coordination for the complete range of cancer-related research, including basic, translational, clinical and population-based science. The SCI brings together faculty with cancer-relevant expertise from four Schools and over 30 departments throughout the University. Given the SCIs mission, breadth, and depth it employs ~370 staff members (inclusive of the CTO) in a fast-paced environment with tremendous opportunities for our Clinical Research teams. SCI integrates key strengths in cancer biology, immunology, genetics, population sciences and clinical oncology with expertise in imaging, engineering and technology development. The translation of basic science discoveries through clinical trials and collaborative team science is a distinguishing feature of the SCI. This position will directly support the pre- and post-award administration for several SCI Faculty. These portfolios include a wide range of sponsors i.e. federal, non-federal and industry as well as award types including but not limited to: grants, contracts, cooperative agreements, subawards, both incoming and outgoing, fellowships, etc. NCI-designated Cancer Centers serve as major sources of discovery into the nature of cancer and of the development of more effective approaches to prevention, diagnosis, and therapy. They contribute significantly to the development of Shared Resources that support cancer relevant research, and they collaborate and coordinate their research efforts with other NCI-funded programs and investigators. The Stanford Cancer Institute (SCI) is currently seeking a Senior Research Administrator to facilitate the growth of its research. The candidate will bring extensive Stanford experience and be a key member of the research administration team, working to manage the proposal preparation and post award activities on grants, contracts, program projects, and federal grants, both routine and complex. This position will also involve financial analysis and forecasting for research activities. The individual will be a liaison among faculty, central research administration offices, and the department finance team. The ideal candidate should enjoy interacting and working with many different people and teams, be able to follow through in a fast-paced environment, adapt well to changing priorities, anticipate and plan for tight funding situations, employ critical thinking in daily tasks, and be a self-starter. Duties include*: Prepare complex proposals within parameters of sponsored and non-sponsored research guidelines. Oversee and communicate submission process, both paper and electronic; resolve issues relating to proposal preparation and submittal process. Develop, prepare, revise, and finalize project budgets, and provide budget justification; obtain cost sharing commitment and support. Serve as liaison and active partner between principal investigators, Office of Sponsored Research, research groups, and other departments; respond to sponsor inquiries; advise of new regulations. Collaborate with Office of Sponsored Research to ensure awards are set up properly and cost-sharing requirements are fulfilled; initiate cost transfers. Review and approve expenditures, advise on post award spending and commitment activity, and oversee compliance related to fund and revenue. Develop and communicate reports supporting project status; create forecasting models, scenarios, and decision aides. Manage contract closeout process and audit inquiries; submit final reports and certificates. Interpret complex university and government policies (FAR, Cost Accounting Standards, Office of Management and Budget circulars, sponsored guidelines, etc.) for project and university personnel and help guide other staff in interpreting complex policies. Identify and implement process improvements. Participate in and lead cross campus projects. Train and advise on issues requiring specific technical expertise. Oversee and review work of other staff.
