Ukrop's Homestyle Foods (UHF) is seeking to hire Full Time Order Selectors for our Distribution Warehouse located at 2008 Westmoreland Street, Richmond, Virginia. The shift is Monday through Saturday, 11AM to 7:30PM (until finish), with occasional overtime and holiday shifts required during some holiday peak periods.

Position Summary:

The Order Selector performs a variety of basic warehouse and picking duties associated with the shipping of our UHF Fresh Prepared Foods and Fresh Bakery products. Successful candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule and work the posted schedule. Must be a team player and self-motivated, ability to effectively communicate with supervisors and coworkers, and knowledgeable in the principles of safety, sanitation, and food safety. Candidates should have a strong ability to read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions. In addition, the candidate must be able to perform basic arithmetic to execute the primary responsibilities of the job. Proactively prioritize tasks with great attention to detail while exhibiting superior customer service.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist in maintaining a world class work environment by performing warehousing, distribution, safety, and security support operations (door and dock access).
• Ensure Team activities meet OSHA regulatory compliance as well as Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods food safety standards.
• Maintains integrity of all products being selected.
• Maintain proper cold chain environment for all products.
• Help manage inventory, replenish pick locations, conduct distribution operations, and keep work areas safe/clean.
• Select correct quantities, palletize, wrap, and stage products (perishable and nonperishable) for timely movement to correct destination.
• Assists cross dock and throughput of pallets by accurately offloading and loading trailers. Assists other associates and departments, as needed, to ensure timely departures of needed products/pallets.
• Assists in managing inventory and ensures integrity of all products being selected. Notifies supervisor of inferior product quality and potential issues. Ensures the proper cold chain environment is maintained for all products.
• Maintains a safe, clean work area that meets OSHA regulatory compliance as well as Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods food safety standards. Reports all food safety issues to an immediate supervisor.
• Assist in ensuring that the SQF system is in place and that we follow all aspects of HACCP plan, SSOPs, and GMPs throughout the plant.

Education and Experience:

• High School or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a warehouse environment, as an order selector preferred. 
• Previous manufacturing experience also desired. 

Minimum Physical Requirements:

• The position responsibilities frequently require:
  • Reading, comprehending, and following verbal and written instructions
  • Performing basic arithmetic to execute duties described above (measuring, follow recipes)
• The physical demands of the position frequently include:
  • Standing and/or walking for a minimum of four hours
  • Repetitive bending, reaching, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting product weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to variations in temperature caused by equipment or department
    • Refrigerated (38 degrees) and warm working environments (up to 75 degrees)
