This vacancy is with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

The position is responsible for the management and operation of a farm program, including the direct supervision over crew leaders and farm laborers engaged in performing the various farming activities; keeping records and preparing reports; the proper operation and maintenance of farm equipment; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

• Legal Authorization to Work Requirement: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
• Basic Requirement: Experience (paid or unpaid), education, training or any combination thereof, which demonstrates the ability to read, comprehend and apply written and oral directions; and the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• General Experience: Three (3) years of responsible farm work experience in one or a combination of the following areas: plant/crop production experience or livestock and/or poultry care and management experience.
• Supervisory Experience: Two (2) years of supervisory work experience which included planning, organizing, scheduling, and directing the work of others; assigning and reviewing their work; advising them on difficult work problems; training and developing subordinates; and evaluating their work performance.
• Substitution of Education for General Experience: Study at an accredited university, community college, junior college or vocational/technical school in the field of agriculture may be substituted for experience.

Other Requirements

• Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Requirement: As required by the Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003 (PREA), Federal law states that an agency shall not hire or promote anyone who may have contact with inmates and who has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility or other institution.
• Driver's License: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.

The PSLF Program is a federal program that is intended to encourage individuals to work in public service by forgiving the balance of their federal student loans. To qualify, the individual must have made 120 qualifying payments while employed by a qualifying employer.
